EXTRA! EXTRA!

FINAL FY 2010 WEATHERIZATION APPROPRIATIONS

The FY 2010 Weatherization Appropriations (Energy and Water Development) Bill is in final form. The "Regular" Weatherization Program will get $180 M, in addition to ARRA Funds already announced. The percentage distributed to each state will be considerably different. When the state-by-state funding chart is available, we will link to it from www.opportunitystudies.org. Another $30 M will go to leveraging projects managed by DOE.

Also, a correction of an item in the September 30 Newsletter:

Tall Apartment Buildings
Buildings taller than five FOUR stories may not be weatherized with ARRA as planned. Davis-Bacon regulations require paying the commercial labor rates, not residential labor rates, for work on these buildings. This means many major measures would not be cost-effective when tested by the required Savings-to-Investment ratio. Unfortunately, there isn’t much that can be done about this statutory requirement.
