EOS works directly with many local CSBG eligible entities, Community Action Agencies or CAAs, to support their local or statewide initiatives; our staff also assists the NASCSP in preparation of the data from the annual CSBG Information System.
The Federal HHS Office of Community Services manages the Block Grant and provides the statute, regulations, funding information and other materials at its site.
Our Community Action Page has more detail about the CSBG network and links to other CSBG resources.
Leveraging and community organizing, as well as anticipating and representing the needs of low-income communities, are important roles assigned to organizations that are funded by the CSBG. These unique purposes of the Block Grant mean that CSBG funding can, and should, be expended for the projects, including the people, that develop new, local approaches to reducing poverty and those who leverage the mix of resources and the policy changes needed to implement the approaches. The leveraging resources developed by EOS are typically put to use by CAAs.
