June 25, 2013

This week brings funding decisions affecting WAP’s capacity to persist, improve and leverage partnerships. The 2013 state allocations can be viewed here.  The Department reprogrammed over $65 million from other uses to supplement the inadequate Continuing Resolution allocation and provided $137.9 million total.  To view all the recently-posted Guidance regarding 2013 plans and changing procedures visit www.waptac.org.

House and Senate Appropriations Committees are advancing very different 2014 funding Bills to their respective chambers tomorrow (House) and Thursday (Senate).  The draft Bills and other figures are compared in the following table (in million $$):

*$160 for the base program /$24 million for a multifamily financing innovations project
** Appropriations Committee reports, not final; all for base program

Learn about DOE’s NEW Multifamily Weatherization Tools

Join our FREE webinar on July 11, 2013 at 2pm EST to learn about DOE’s new multifamily weatherization tools from Jennifer Somers, Senior Policy Advisor and DOE Team Lead for Training and Technical Assistance.  DOE has now developed a suite of tools and resources to assure that the WAP network retrofits this housing stock using consistent and successful methodology.  Session topics will include:

  • The Standard Work Specifications for Multifamily Energy Upgrades
  • Technical Guidelines for Multifamily Building Energy Audits
  • MulTEA: The Multifamily Tool for Energy Audits
  • The Job Task Analyses for Multifamily Home Energy Professionals

EOS’ Leveraged Partnerships Project is helping disseminate these tools to assist weatherizers’ search for new resources by  maintaining their competitive advantage in the industry’s skills and tools.  This interactive session focuses on how to use them as well as on DOE’S deployment plan for the tools.  Ample time will be allotted for questions and dialogue.  Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

To sign up for this important and timely EOS session, please provide your name, title and email address to Levi Juhl at levijuhl@opportunitystudies.org.

Also, DO NOT MISS OUT on the webinar offered on June 27, 2013 from 3:30 – 4:45pm EST during the NASCSP Wx Plus Health virtual conference.  The NASCSP webinar, also with Jennifer Somers, is a broad overview of these and other topics and a good “prequel” to the July 11th webinar.

DOE ‘s  online tool for the Standard Work Specifications (SWS) is available.  While DOE strongly encourages their adoption- the SWS, like worker Home Energy Professional certifications, are not a DOE requirement in the 2013 funding cycle.
